Partners' Guide: Editing and Changing Company Type
Managing company types correctly helps keep your licensing clean and your multi-tenant organised. This quick guide walks you through how to edit company details and switch between company types, plus what each change means.
Understanding Company Types:
Before making changes, it’s important to know what happens when you switch from one type to another:
Current Type | Change To | What Happens |
Partner | Inactive | Automatically loses 10 NFR licences. Premium licences remain active. |
Partner | Customer | Loses 10 NFRs. You’ll need to order and assign new Premium licences. |
Trial | Partner | Trial expires. Partner gets 10 NFR licences. |
Customer | Partner | Gets 10 NFR licences, existing Premium licenses stay. |
Customer | Inactive | Can only be changed once all licences have expired. |
Inactive | Partner | The Partner gets 10 NFR licences. |
Inactive | Customer | Requires Premium licence assignment |
Trial | Customer | Requires Premium licence assignment |
Partner | Inactive | Sub-companies must be moved to Inactive first. |
Editing Your Own Partner Company Details
If you just want to update your Partner company’s name, size, industry, or country (not the type), follow these steps:
Steps:
- Log in to your Partner Admin dashboard.
- Navigate to the Company section.
- Click on the Actions button ( top right).
- Select Edit Company.
- Make your changes (name, size, industry, and country).
- Click Save.
Changing Other Companies - Switching Company Type
Need to change a company from Trial to Partner? Or a Customer to Inactive? Or a Partner to Inactive? Use the steps below - it’s the same process across all company types.
Steps:
- Log in to your Partner Admin dashboard.
- Navigate to your Company section.
- Find the company (Partner, Customer, Trial, or Inactive) you want to edit.
- Click on the Actions > Edit Company.
- Change company status
- Click Save to confirm changes.
Note:
If a Partner decides to stop reselling:
You can set them to Inactive, but only if:
- They have no active accounts with active licences.
- They’re not still listed as an external manager on any active or expired trial accounts. (You’ll need to remove them as a manager from those accounts first before deleting them as a user and updating the Partner status.)
- ✅ If a customer decides not to continue with training and all their licences have expired, you can switch them to Inactive.
- 🚀 If a Premium, Trial, or Inactive customer decides to resell the solution on your behalf, just change them to a Partner - they’ll automatically receive 10 NFR licences.
